Why is our name RÄK?

How do you pronounce “RÄK?”

RÄK looks like “rack” but the German ä with an umlaut changes the pronunciation to sound like an “O”. So, when you read “RÄK,” say “ROCK”.

The name RÄK began with the idea that every home we build is built to last.

Strong homes begin with a solid foundation. If your home is to endure seasons and storms it must be built on an unmoving foundation. It must be built on a rock. Every RÄK home is well built to last for generations.

Every letter in RÄK has significant meaning.

R

is for Raymond, RÄK’s founder

Ä

the ä with the German umlaut represents Raymond’s German heritage

K

is for Kristie, Raymond’s wife

These three letters joined together represent RÄK’s dedication to family.Because your home is where relationships with family and friends are nourished and cared for, our goal is that every home we build will be a place where you can find security, comfort, and a lifestyle you enjoy. The architect and every contractor involved in building a RÄK home is committed to this vision.

Raymond Pung, Owner

“I’m not being a builder because it’s the only thing I know how to do.
I’m a builder because this is what I love to do.”

– RÄK founder Raymond Pung

RÄK founder, Raymond Pung, has a passion for building and bringing homeowners’ dreams to life.

Raymond worked in construction to put himself through college. After earning an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Michigan, he began his career as an electrical process engineer and program manager. In this capacity, Raymond gained valuable insight into project management and communicating with suppliers, but he missed being outside and working with his hands. So, after three years, Raymond left his engineering job and spent ten years learning building trades and processes from the best in the industry.

For over 20 years, Raymond has found a way to bring all his passions into his work building custom luxury homes. It’s the perfect way to blend his college education, engineering mindset, and hands-on skills in order to bring people’s dreams to life through luxury homes.

Raymond served as the President of the Grand Rapids Home Builders Association in 2014. He has also participated in Builders20 as part of the National Home Builders Association.
